« Dad? »
There was a pause. Five years of silence, and then:
« Give me your address. I’m coming to take you home. You’ve thrown away enough of your life. »
« I’m coming to take you home. »
Arguing with Dad had never stopped him once he’d decided something. So I gave him the address. Four hours later, he knocked.
« Pack what you need. »
Those were the first real words my father said to me in five years.
Not « Hello. »
